Creating a sustainable future in Salford
The Big Green Festival will be arriving at the Civic Centre grounds at Chorley Road, Swinton on Saturday 26 June, 12 noon to 4.30pm. The festival, hosted by environmental enthusiast Fred ‘the weatherman’ Talbot, will include lots of activities and information about green living for all age groups and will help to create a better understanding of climate change, what impact it can have on us here in Salford and what you can do to help reduce your carbon footprint.
Lawn activities for everyone:
• Eco chat with Fred Talbot
• Advice on growing your own produce
• Cooking demonstrations, making
the most out of cupboard foods
• Green stalls, offering a wealth of advice on sustainable living
• Solar-powered cinema marquee
• Music from Strawberry Urban Lunch using recycled materials
• Green craft workshops
Don’t let the kids miss out on:
• Meeting Jelly from CBeebies’ Green Balloon Club
• Jeepers creepers, educational tent of critters, featuring Tanya the tarantula, little Miss Snowball, her husband Harry Plopper and other friends
• Sunflower and Lily, the stilt-walking flowers
• Face painting

• BMX, skating and skateboard performances, coaching and obstacle course
• Kite-stunt display team and audience participation
