Houghton Lane and Birch Road will be resurfaced, the existing surface will be planed off and replaced with macadam surfacing.

**The works in these roads are planned to start on the week commencing 28th March and will last approximately 2 weeks**

Important changes to the blue and brown bin recycling collections.

From Tuesday 12 April 2011, blue and brown bin recycling collections in Salford will be changing from a fortnightly to monthly collection schedule.

Under the new scheme :

Collection of blue (paper and cardboard) and brown (glass, cans and plastic bottles) recycling bins will now take place once a month (instead of once a fortnight).

The day of the week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) that the collection takes place will NOT change.

Please note that collection of all other bins (i.e. Domestic Waste - Black and Garden Waste - Pink Lidded) will remain the same.

To effectively communicate this change in service, a number of communication activities are planned to take place in March and April . This will include:

All households in Salford receiving a new calendar sticker attached to their blue and brown recycling bins which will detail the new monthly collection dates from w/c 14 March 2011.

Adverts have been placed in the March edition of Life in Salford which is being distributed from w/c 14 March 2011 and the Manchester Evening News from w/c 24 March 2011.

Information will be published on the council’s website, Twitter and Facebook pages from the 1 April 2011.

Today I will be attending the Royal Fusiliers Homecoming Parade, the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers will be marching from Victoria Park to the civic reception at the town hall.
